Agents tricked him into coming in for a fake drug test—then tackled him against wall of the bathroom.
"I was shaking like a leaf because I wasn't expecting this."
Locked up at Alligator Alcatraz first—and then shipped around to other detention centers for 2 months.
Douglas Dixon has now been deported back to Montreal—a city he hasn't been to in 21 years.
The Covid pandemic forced his smoothie business to close in 2022.
He fell behind on his taxes—but had already paid back most of the money owed through a court ordered plan.
His wife, daughter, and grandchildren were not even allowed to say goodbye—and he has been banned for life from ever entering the U.S. again.
"I did not think that the United States was going to treat people inhumanely —but they do not care about the human condition in those detention centers."

I don't agree with how people are being treated there, but then again if you are in the country illegally you can't really complain when you get deported.

Marie-Thérèse is 86 years old.
Handcuffed. Wrists and ankles.
Sitting in an ICE detention facility in Louisiana with roughly 70 other detainees.
She has heart problems. She has a bad back.
Her children in France didn’t know where she was for a week.
Here’s why:
Sixty years ago she fell in love with an American soldier. They lost each other. They found each other again.
They got married. Billy was a retired U.S. Army colonel.
Billy died in January.
Marie-Thérèse had a green card application pending.
Then there was an inheritance dispute with Billy’s son.
Billy’s son reportedly called ICE.
DHS called her “an illegal alien from France.”
This is what we’re doing to the 86-year-old widow of an American veteran.
What exactly are we protecting?

DHS Demanded Google Surrender Data on Canadian’s Activity, Location Over Anti-ICE Posts
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a customs summons to Google seeking:
Location history
Activity logs
Account identifiers
Records of account suspensions
The target was a Canadian man who has not entered the United States in more than a decade, yet had posted strongly worded criticism of federal immigration agents following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
Google notified him on February 9, despite DHS including an indefinite gag request instructing the company not to disclose the summons. The man initially thought the alert was a scam.
Reporting indicates this was not an isolated case:
DHS has issued hundreds of similar administrative subpoenas to Google, Meta, Reddit, and Discord targeting accounts that criticized ICE or shared agent locations.
From 2016 to mid‑2022, DHS issued over 170,000 administrative subpoenas, with a DHS Inspector General review finding policy violations in about 1 in 5.
This has raised concerns about borderless surveillance, political overreach, and the use of trade‑law tools to monitor speech by non‑Americans outside U.S. territory.
Why this is controversial
1. The legal tool used was never intended for this purpose.
A customs summons—authorized under the Tariff Act of 1930—is supposed to be used for investigating import‑related issues such as duties, taxes, and compliance. It is not reviewed by a judge and bypasses normal judicial oversight. Experts note it was never envisioned as a mechanism to track foreign critics of U.S. policy.
2. The man had no U.S. connection relevant to customs law.
He had not imported anything from the U.S. during the period DHS demanded records for (Sept 2025–Feb 2026). His lawyers argue DHS had no jurisdictional basis to seek his physical movements.
3. Lawyers say DHS is exploiting the fact that major tech companies are U.S.-based.
According to the ACLU’s Michael Perloff, DHS is using the geographic location of companies like Google to obtain data on people outside U.S. borders that it otherwise could not legally access.

Re: BREAKING: Minneapolis mayor tells ICE to "get the f*** out" of city after agent kills woman
Background: The DHS issued the summons following the plaintiff's online criticism of federal agents' actions in Minneapolis. The plaintiff, who has not entered the U.S. since 2015, writes under a pseudonym to protect his privacy (0:10 - 0:54).
The Summons: The DHS is demanding extensive personal information from Google, including associated accounts, names, residential addresses, phone numbers, and financial details like credit card or bank account numbers (1:20 - 1:40).
Surveillance Concerns: The summons also requests "location information," which could reveal the plaintiff’s physical movements, and "activity/transactional logs," potentially exposing search history, video watch history, and communication data (1:51 - 3:20).
Legal Argument: The ACLU is representing the plaintiff, arguing that the DHS is exceeding its legal authority to identify and intimidate critics of the U.S. government. They contend that this is part of a broader pattern of the Trump administration using unfounded administrative subpoenas against social media users (0:24 - 0:33, 4:25 - 5:10).
Broader Implications:
Reports indicate that tech companies like Google, Meta, Reddit, and Discord have received hundreds of similar requests from the DHS (5:01 - 5:11).
The ACLU is seeking not only to invalidate this specific summons but to establish a legal precedent preventing the government from using customs enforcement authority to target and unmask political critics (5:33 - 5:48).
The video concludes by framing this case as a potential "red flag" for the state of democracy and free speech (5:57 - 6:24).

Re: BREAKING: Minneapolis mayor tells ICE to "get the f*** out" of city after agent kills woman
Structure and Misconceptions (6:05-12:06): The video clarifies that ICE is divided into two primary branches: ERO (Enforcement and Removal Operations), which handles immigration and detention, and HSI (Homeland Security Investigations), which covers a broad range of criminal investigations including human trafficking, child exploitation, and intellectual property theft. Agents emphasize that they are not just "deportation officers."
Operation Metro Surge (3:16-5:25, 12:36-16:05): The operation in Minneapolis is criticized by sources for being politically driven, costly, and disruptive to community relationships. Agents express frustration that this focus on mass immigration enforcement diverted resources away from vital criminal investigations.
The Impact on Child Exploitation Work (1:21-2:05, 27:32-35:01): A major theme is the disillusionment within HSI caused by the diversion of manpower to immigration enforcement. Sources state that this has led to a significant decrease in hours spent pursuing child predators, with one agent noting a 33% reduction in such efforts since the current administration took office.
Internal Culture and Diversity (17:28-19:49, 20:10-21:23): The video discusses the demographics of these agencies—noting that a large percentage of agents are Hispanic or from other minority backgrounds—and addresses internal issues with racism and discrimination, including an account from an agent who was fired under disputed circumstances.
Shadow Wolves (39:25-44:17): Callaghan highlights the Shadow Wolves, an elite, all-Native American unit within ICE that utilizes traditional tracking techniques to combat trafficking on reservation lands, serving as an example of the specialized work HSI performs.
Callaghan concludes by arguing that regardless of one's political stance on immigration, it is crucial to understand the functional divisions within these federal agencies to have an informed perspective on law enforcement policy.
