You know, if they could be divided into shell type, I wouldn't have as big a problem with confiscation. It still sucks, but at least they will kill Russians and won't be melted down.

If they were to ban firearms by volume of rounds sold they could root out overnight most of the most egregious weapons. IE if the firearm can be converted for use in conventional armies (5.56, 7.62 and 7.92) ban their sale, use, manufacture or export. Sure, this will mean hunting rifles will need to adopt new calibers and it would not address 3d printing of bolts but overnight it would blacklist a lot of the usual suspects. Volume is the elephant in the room that needs to be zeroed but it gets confused with terms like 'assault' which are meaningless and uninforacble.

And what if people load their own ammo? Volume of ammo means the exact same as how scary the weapon looks. It's not a measure of whether the weapon will be used by people on people. Any rifle capable of dropping a moose can kill a person.Dr Strangelove wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2024 8:32 pm If they were to ban firearms by volume of rounds sold they could root out overnight most of the most egregious weapons. Nothing. However, the means of cheap mass production will mean they are paying a higher price for that as those will be exclusive to military procurement. This isn't plugging the hole but acting as a governor over the rate. As stated you can still make a zip gun and a 3d print so if you have the will and the tools you still have access but that access is much more restricted. Gun control even as wars are won on logistics not tactics.
