Denmark prepared for war with the U.S. over Greenland

In January, Danish military forces were urgently deployed to Greenland.

They carried explosives to destroy runways in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq, preventing the landing of U.S. troops.

They also brought blood supplies from Danish banks to assist the wounded in case of combat. This was reported by the Danish broadcaster DR.

The operation was officially presented as the Arctic Endurance exercises, but sources in the Danish press believe it was preparation for a more serious conflict.

The goal was to make a potential U.S. military operation so costly and complicated that Washington would be deterred from seizing the island by force.
