Elections BC says the recall petition will be issued on May 21, 2026, allowing registered canvassers to begin collecting signatures.

Target of recall: Dallas Brodie, MLA for Vancouver–Quilchena

Proponent: Dorothy Cumming (resides in Langley, outside the riding)

Deadline to return petition: July 20, 2026

Signature requirement: 15,232 voters (40% of eligible voters in the riding)

Spending limits:

Proponent & MLA: $36,177.69

Advertising sponsors: $6,398.60

If the petition is submitted with enough signatures, Elections BC will conduct a verification process lasting up to 42 days, including contacting a random sample of signatories.

Why the recall is being sought
The application argues Brodie is “unfit to represent the riding”, citing:

Her expulsion from the BC Conservative caucus for mocking residential school survivors

Prioritizing the creation of her new party, OneBC, over local issues

Insufficient engagement with constituents on affordability, health care, and community services

A separate report notes critics accuse her of wasting public funds on political promotion and neglecting community needs.
