The synopsis in this video early on is one of a half time interview during a losing team's hockey game where they just say they have to work harder but don't actually say anything during the interview for fear of making it worse. Carney is already feeble at making a splash and this article went over like a lead balloon. If people didn't see him as ivory tower before he has sealed that in for good.
I think this is the reason why it is so hard to replace JT. Freeland isn't up to the task, she is Anand 2.0 a policy wonk but a flop to the cameras and so is Carney. They have no political gravatas at ALL. The closest they had was Frasier but he was too green and locked horn's with JT too often and you could see the personality clash but at least he had one. The rest are zombies and wonks that were all brought into government BY JT. If it wasn't for him they wouldn't even have a seat! So they wouldn't every speak out against dear leader for fear of looking like the dog that bit the hand the feeds. So no motivation to become the next leader within the party. The rot is plain to see no back bench and a PMO with WAY too much power.
