Duhhh, investing is taking a chance, just like your mutual finds,, RRSP's, GIC's, stocks etc.If they do bad or not so good, so will CPP, they invest in same as you do LOL

The stock market, where the CPP is invested, crashed so...of course it will take a loss. So did all other pensions.
As I said, so did your RRSP , stocks, GIC's etc.
How was your oversight into your holdings??? Did you fail??

What are you trying to say? There is no such thing as "passive investing". Investing is the same for you personally as it is for corporations and mutual fund companies.
The entire stock market world took a dive and all investments look losses. CPP is in the same situation.
Are you trying to blame someone? If so , who??

No, it isn't. True, if I buy 110 shares of a company, no one cares.

But if CPP or Warren Buffet or the Ontario Teachers Pension invest a billion in that company, it has a dramatically different effect. And that company pays attention as it may be a controlling share that is purchased.

Yes it is..... even if you bought 1 share or 1 million shares, the effect is exactly the same. Proportion is different but the bottom line is the same...a loss.

FYI, Warren Buffet and the Ontario Teachers Unions also lost money (on paper) just as the CPP did. and they paid attention too. Every investor lost money.

Do you or did you think that all the losses during the great depression were because no one paid attention??? Or on Black Friday? Or the recession of 1990? Or the Dot Com crash? Or the 2008 Financial Crash? Or the many other times the market crashed tha tno one was paying attention ?? When the market crashes, all investors lose.

You are trying to make this a political blunder when in fact, it is a pure stock market issue.
