No one is saying it out loud, but should the USA take over Greenland it would be contrary to Canada's National Security.
They'd surround Canada on three sides and more or less control both entrances to the NW Passage, plus access to Hudson's Bay.
Not that they would, but they could, and who knows with a volatile deranged prick in the White House. Two electoral brain farts in recent history, another is a possibility.

Health minister says Canada can’t rely on U.S. health institutions anymore

Canada is used to looking to the United States as a source of health and scientific information, but the federal health minister said that is no longer the case.

“I cannot trust them as a reliable partner, no,” said Health Minister Marjorie Michel in a year-end interview.

Michel added that the U.S. “can be reliable on some stuff,” but pointed to vaccines as an area in which Canada must go its own way.

U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration have made significant changes to health institutions over the last year.

Used to live a few kms from the Pacific crossing and visit Blaine, Bellingham and the USA lots, like almost every weekend in summer in the 1990s. Even with a 70¢ dollar. Had freinds there and even knew the names of some US border guards.

2025 United States trade war with Canada and Mexico

Trade depends on trust and that means a forecast of fragmentation and unpredictability. Even for goods that the US can't get anywhere else doesn't mean that the old system will be there to place the order anymore. Canada is looking to build with partners not patsies and only the fools that pine for the past want to ignore that. Trump has gone all in and that means no plan B or rollback plan. Everyday the system splinters under the pressure and the total collapse is not a question of if but when:



Trump has ripped out all the safety checks and balances, went all in on a tariff war with the entire planet. Their economy is tanking NOW but they have never witnessed a crash this hard before because they never thought they would have someone this stupid run the country. So they can't believe what they are seeing and excusing the down trend as a blip. It isn't and the floor has been ripped out of the economy and no one thought to pack a chute.
