Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans‑Pacific Partnershi

Post by Dr Strangelove »

CPTPP
- Canada
- Japan
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Singapore
- Malaysia
- Vietnam
- Brunei
- Chile
- Peru
- Mexico
The U.K. has also signed on and is in the process of joining.
Together, the bloc represents:
- $15+ trillion in combined GDP
- 500+ million consumers
- One of the world’s largest free‑trade zones
• China has applied to join
This is politically sensitive — Canada, Japan, and Australia have concerns about:
- Market access
- State subsidies
- Human‑rights issues
- Security
• Taiwan has also applied
Which complicates China’s bid.
