Re: Ukraine war thread
"Love digs trenches and lives in them, gnawing on ice from a hacked up plastic bottle. When it suffers thirst at minus 20, love goes out on combat duty, enters firing positions with hernias, fever, prostatitis, with vast concussions, asthma, and allergies, with a high probability of not making it back.
And sometimes love closes its friends' eyes, wraps them in sleeping bags, and carries them away. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease.
Where there are tongues, they will be still. Where there is knowledge, it will pass away. Because sometimes when the shelling ceases, friends close love's eyes, wrap it in sleeping bags, and carry it away.
And then it passes on to the living."

Never before made public until today, the Russians attacked the train carrying US General Ben Hodges, roof exploding. This was amid a nationwide Russian sabotage operation that attacked trains in 5 locations in the Netherlands.
European governments are doing everything to keep these growing attacks quiet because admitting that they're happening means they'd need to respond, and Russians have Carte Blanche.

So here is the part nobody in Washington wants on a bumper sticker.
British intelligence has reportedly been showing the Americans intercepted Russian calls and messages in which senior Russians mock Trump privately and treat his read of Putin as childishly naive. The line from a senior UK security source is brutal in its simplicity: they have “continually” presented intelligence showing the Russians are lying, and the Russians are laughing about it behind closed doors.
Putin is not negotiating in good faith and does not want to end the war. Not a “peace deal”, not a “freeze”, not a “real estate swap”. The Kremlin wants time, leverage, and a Western headline it can weaponize.
And that is why this matters for Europe: allies are apparently trying to drag the United States back to evidence based policy by showing receipts. Meanwhile, Russia’s leadership is allegedly treating the US president like an influencer they can manage with flattery.
If your “peace process” requires your allies to pass you wiretaps proving the other side is laughing at you, you are not brokering peace. You are being used as set dressing.
