dont think US Americans understand how insanely repulsive this is. They dont even think of it. They dont understand that others love their countries as much as they love their own. They are deluded to think that they are exceptional and better than everybody and that everybody wants to be US Americans.

What the U.S. is doing
Following a formal investigation, the U.S. Department of Commerce will apply 1.6% to 5% tariffs on Canadian fresh mushrooms.

These are countervailing duties, meaning Washington believes Canadian mushrooms are unfairly subsidized.

The investigation began in January 2026 after U.S. mushroom producers petitioned Commerce, arguing that Canadian agricultural tax exemptions amount to subsidies.

Why Canadian growers are alarmed
The Canadian Mushroom Growers’ Association says the U.S. justification is “unprecedented” because:

Both countries use agricultural tax exemptions

Such exemptions have never been treated as subsidies in trade cases

Accepting this logic could expose many other farm products to tariffs on both sides of the border

Growers warn this could trigger a broader escalation affecting beef, produce, greenhouse crops, and other sectors that rely on cross‑border trade.
