Analysts note that Alberta appears to be routing the pipeline through communities more supportive of industrial development, even though cheaper alternatives exist.
What a load of total steaming shit.
We're all for economic development but not an oilt pipeline. Nobody along the toute supported the Gaeway proposal. no town, no Band. Even the Smithers Chamber og Commerce took down their pro billnoard.
Conservative lies, lies and more lies, nothing but lies/

There's a multi-villion $ TMX route that Justin paid for, that in years bo one stepped up to take over. The route is there, and a new pipe(s) could be laid alongside it for a fee that would recover some of the cost and be far less than building a new route. And port expansion where it is far less expensive than to buils up North from scratch.

It seems Danielle remains intent on shoving a pipeline up our ass simply to OWN the BC greenies,
She ain't no UCP real Conservatives focus on cost and ROI

New oil pipeline will travel through Kamloops on existing Trans Mountain route: Carney
Prime Minister Mark Carney said the federal and Alberta governments have agreed that the best route for the new West Coast pipeline is the one that already exists — the Trans Mountain corridor running from Edmonton through Kamloops to the Lower Mainland.

Carney emphasized:

- The new line will be built by Trans Mountain Corp, with Pembina Pipeline providing private‑sector expertise.
- Indigenous consultations along the route will begin immediately.
- The southern route is now the only viable option after Ottawa and B.C. formally upheld the North Coast tanker ban, eliminating any northern pipeline proposals.

Kamloops becomes a major construction hub again:

The pipeline will physically run through the city, using the same corridor built and expanded during the Trans Mountain twinning project.

That earlier expansion brought $450 million in direct spending to the Kamloops area and $40 million in worker spending during peak years (2022–2023).

Local officials expect years of new construction work and significant economic activity once this project begins.

The Northern tanker ban stays in place, the TMX route gets reused.
Just like I proposed as the common sense option long ago. Surprise! The govt used their heads for once.

Key pillars of the $200B Pacific strategy include:

LNG Expansion: Ottawa and British Columbia have committed to accelerating four major LNG projects to tap into the growing Asian energy market, which expects a 60% increase in demand by 2040 (0:56-2:47).
Infrastructure Investment: To support these exports, Canada is investing in critical infrastructure, including the $3.9 billion North Coast transmission line, the Red Chris mine expansion for copper production, and major upgrades to the Port of Vancouver (2:47-4:44).
Strategic Partnership with the Philippines: Canada has formed a new strategic partnership with the Philippines to unlock trade access to the $5 trillion ASEAN market, aiming to complete a free trade agreement by the end of 2026 (4:44-6:36).
Alberta-BC Pipeline Deal: In a rare cross-provincial compromise, Alberta and BC have agreed to a proposal for a new pipeline to move heavy crude to the Pacific coast. The route respects BC's environmental conditions, such as the tanker ban, while allowing Alberta access to Asian markets (6:36-10:42).
The overarching goal is to integrate these components—resources, infrastructure, and trade relationships—into a single, resilient economic system that functions independently of Washington's political influence (11:09-11:41).

Seems that Carney talked some sense into Smith who seemed more focused on forcing BC to submit than to achieve the objective of exporting oil. Insisting on a Northern route until the last minute that required cancelling the tanker ban, endangering a pristine river valley, denying the rights of Natives, over ruling the wishes of that route's residents and allow her to pretend Alberta is more important than any other province in the nation.

A similar deal could have been done with Justin Trudeau had she dropped the political bullshit and partisan hatred of the guy.
