Make a deal with a duplicitous scumbag who hasn't respected a single deal jhe or his country made?
Someone insane and corrupt to the core?
I'll say what Carney, as a diplomat can't say loud: Fuck off and die, Trump!

And to think I was about to go to the Credit Union to arrange things to buy a Chevy Bolt, as I decided it was the best bang for my buck.
I will go to the LCB, buy a bottle of Cuban Rum instead and think about a Kia or Mazda again.
(I drink Wisers not rum, but it'll be worth it)

"While a 50% tariff is severe, it would apply to only ~5% of U.S. imports from Canada. With 85% of Canada-U.S. trade registered under the USMCA over the last year, most imports would remain tariff-free even if these Section 338 levies are implemented. So, despite the jarring 50% figure, Canada's overall tariff rate would rise modestly, from ~5% to just over ~7.5%."

The World Cup Incident: The video suggests that Donald Trump's decision may be fueled by personal grievances following his experience at the World Cup final, where he was met with boos while Mark Carney was warmly received by players (0:00-1:37).
The Tariff Scope: The proposed tariffs target various sectors including cars, alcohol, dairy, electronics, and even hockey sticks, while notably exempting essential goods like energy and critical minerals, which the video argues proves U.S. dependency on Canada (1:39-2:52).
Economic Impact: The hosts argue that these tariffs essentially function as a tax on American companies and consumers rather than Canada, and they emphasize that the boycott of American alcohol products in Canada has already significantly impacted U.S. producers (2:53-6:49).
Future Outlook: The video advocates for Canada to continue building economic partnerships outside of the United States and calls on Canadians to use their consumer power by supporting domestic goods and avoiding optional travel to the USA (6:50-11:00).
Yup, Trump is reacting to being snubbed and it will happen again and again. The US is not the beacon any more. No longer the shining city upon a hill (if it ever was) it has become what we must avoid.

The more pissed off donnie gets the more sand slips through his fingers. So crash out DJT, and go even harder! You are only teaching the rest of the world it doesn't need the US.

Canadian government officials are not going to attend what was supposed to be a joint Canada-US event, the Gordie Howe Bridge ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Friday because of the new 50% tariffs saying it would be “inappropriate to proceed with a celebratory event between the two countries.”

Addressing the 'Bully' Tactics: Premier Eby emphasizes that Canada cannot back down from these trade threats by simply complying with demands, such as returning U.S. alcohol products to store shelves, until a stable, fair trade agreement is reached (6:45 - 7:15).
Economic Impact: The Premier acknowledges that these tariffs pose a significant threat to small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in sectors like forestry, and stresses the importance of federal support for these families (2:20 - 3:15).
The Strategy of Diversification: While Canada seeks to maintain a productive relationship with the U.S., Eby argues that the current volatility underscores the urgent need for Canada to diversify its trade partnerships globally to ensure long-term economic stability (1:40 - 2:40, 8:40 - 10:10).
Negotiation Stance: Eby supports the federal government's approach of identifying key areas of leverage—such as energy and critical minerals—to encourage a broad, comprehensive trade deal rather than yielding to sector-by-sector pressure (3:45 - 4:45, 5:05 - 5:50).
This is the tack that Eby needs to cling to come hell or high water if he expects to hold power.
