OMG the Fraser Valley are burning this summer. Evacuation orders all over.
Had a family cabin in the Cariboo drom the 1970s and worked the area for almost a year in the 1980s
Glad we sold the pace a couple years back, 70 Mile House and Clinton are under evac orders. The last fire outbreak about 5 years ago stopped barely 100m from out property line.

Since two places I have lived have burned in recent ears, I keep a bug bag ready. All my important stuff in one place.
Another backpack with pet food. Another with camping supplies and food/water.
Enough for two people and two pets to live for a couple weeks in the bush if nedded.

Evacuated once several years back for only a week. The smoke was even worse where they officially evacuated to! We left there after one day and headed to the North Coast
Turned out the fire stopped short of town, the govt evac centres were super supportive and the people of Terrace BC were superbly helpful.
