Re: CPP Investments Underperforms... Again
I once considered Ron James's suggestion to stant eating a spoonful of pet food every day so I'd be used to it when I retired.
Seeing the price of pet food these days, I'm wondering how many meals I could get from my chicuahua/

I'd save pet food for my pets. I can eat chickpeas and lentils for 50 cents a day. My cat can't.
And you should have got a pet chicken.

Performance Issues: The Active Equities team, consisting of 120 employees, utilizes a market-neutral strategy (long/short positions). The video claims this group lost approximately $3 billion in the past year and $6 billion over a five-year period (9:05 - 10:00).
Controversial Compensation: Despite these losses, the average compensation per employee in this group has increased by 50% over the last five years, reaching nearly $1.4 million per person in the latest report (9:25 - 10:15).
Moving the Goalposts: The video highlights how CPP Investments has recently shifted away from traditional performance benchmarks (1:40 - 2:20, 5:05 - 5:35). The creator describes a new initiative to move beyond strict accountability, arguing that the fund is essentially trying to separate investment decisions from the actual negative financial outcomes (5:40 - 6:55).
Lack of Transparency: There is criticism regarding the fund's "strategic objectives performance" metric, which they scored perfectly despite missing financial targets, leading to the largest executive bonuses in the fund's history (2:55 - 3:45).
These people need to be shown the door.

I won't even be able to afford chickpeas.
Have to get back into hunting. In Elk Island Park too.
