Carney says Canada pursued 'every opportunity' to reach deal as Trump's new tariffs take effect

Post by hitest »

In a statement late Friday, Carney said Canada is suspending trade talks with the United States and recalling its negotiating team, saying the U.S. made "unfair" last-minute changes to the deal.

CUSMA is the law in all 3 countries. By levying tariffs by any means, the US is breaking the law. El Presedente does not have the authority to defy Congress, and he will be embarrassed once again in court. And Smoot-Holey is the dumbest tool in the drawer.

The US wanted:

Restrictions on Canada's future trade deals
Restrictions on Canadian auto exports
A say in Canadian language policy
A say in Canadian culture

That's an attempt to dictate how Canada conducts itself as a sovereign country.

This isn't about trade. It's about control
