Picked this up on deep discount on steam. I missed playing old school Harpoon and red storm rising and this scratches that itch.

I fucking hate Windows. Like a boiling rage kind of hate.

I started playing a game with friends. It runs under Linux, but only the demo missions. It needs an anti-cheat that only installs on Windows bare metal. No VMs. So I had to put an old SSD with Windws installed on it in my newest machine. (nut installs on Linux servers)

But every time I boot into Windows, and it updates anything, it changes my BIOS so that Linux does not boot by default, and it changed my BIOS options to install all the crapware my mainboard manufacturer installs. So I have to spend a half hour uninstalling all the AI bullshit it installs and McCaffe spyware. And Windows keeps re-installing all sorts of bullshit that I uninstall like Copilot and Edge.

It's my fucking computer, not theirs. It's funny, because in my other machine, with nearly identical hardware, but different mainboard manufacturer, then Windows doesn't do this. Even if the BIOS is password protected. This is also the second similar motherboard I have tried that does this. But a board from a different manufacturer doesn't do this.

Almost all my other games run fine in Linux, even in VR. I have to keep a Windows install for just this one game.
