You make the same mistake as almost all Americans:

If you compare to Cdn historical standards you can count the number of "leftist" politicians down there on one hand.

One of the reasons I loathe Bill Maher is because he professes to be a Democrat but always whines about 'the left', using every MAGA dogwhistle like 'wokeness' as if it was a political issue and repeating their very war cry.
So how come after Reagan, Bush, Bush Jr, Trump and Trump again is it bothering so many they think a politician can possibly 'fix it'? Hoping the Bronze Buffoon will send the Army to deport everyone who they disagree with?

It goes beyond that there is no left/right. There is no CIVILITY to have a conversation to begin with. The fence posts are not fixed and both sides are playing by their own rules. There are no neutral parties only ego.

TLDR: it's a race to the bottom and the sides are greased.

Yup! The left has to be far less serious and being a stick in the mud and have FUN again. If people don't feel welcomed and included when they turn out then why turn out? Purity tests on the left are way out of control. Too busy bickering when there is a party to be had.
