It’s hard to know how sincere these alignments are. What seems more likely is that both men are riding the proverbial tiger of far-right provocation to appeal to these fringe demographics. Or doing so merely for the frisson doing so. The modern history of conservatism, however, offers a stern warning against such concessions. Politicians like Poilievre or Vance may think they’re sneakily swindling these groups in order to secure their votes. In reality, the opposite tends to be true: these fringe groups exploit politicians to amplify their views, edging them further into the mainstream. The tiger — so the adage goes — swallows the rider.

Same reason he wouldn't get read in on Chinese election interference. He wants to pee shoot at the government while not being held to account for his own words. Also, why should he when it was JT that forced the workers back to work for demanding a safe workspace? This is JT's bed.
