The media ecosystem in the US is incredibly narrow and fragile. The US only believes what they are told and are encouraged to be intellectually lazy. They need everything spoon fed to them like babies before they even consider to take action. This is not recent either but it has become far sharper in contrast with the mergers and outright takeover of regulation and ownership. People have not only tuned out but they have also lost the ability and discipline of argumentative and constructive dialogue. Relying on social media clicks and doom scrolling rather than developing independent thought. Very much mirrors early 2000's Russia under Putin and Trump is following his playbook.
