NATO Spending Target: The panel discusses Canada achieving the 2% NATO defense spending target ahead of schedule. While panelists agree this is a necessary milestone, they argue it is late and raises questions about procurement failures, how to fund the massive increases, and whether Canada can effectively implement its industrial strategy without sacrificing military effectiveness.


TLDR we are still sucking hind tit. 2.5% of this is industrial commitments and that will spark regional competition and we have a procurement process that is in desperate need of overhaul and the whole system is geared towards buying US products. We have a LOT of growing up to do.

That said it is good to see that investment is back to 1960's level when Canada had an aircraft carrier. This was and should be the BASELINE. Now we need drones, anti-air and ammo at scale.
