JUST IN: At least 40 people, including civilians and members of the Venezuelan military, were killed in the attack, according to preliminary assessments, a senior Venezuelan official reportedly told the New York Times.
U.S. forces deployed more than 150 aircraft to eliminate air defenses, clearing the way for helicopters to insert troops who then moved on President Nicolás Maduro’s location, the outlet said citing U.S. officials. More on the operation from Jack Murphy of The High Side in the post in reply.
