TLDR:

Building without insurance should be a bulwark from the fires. The political class are too afraid of blowback currently to not do that and will waste money rebuilding in a fire zone rather than forcing higher density housing in areas not set to light on fire.

Areas not at risk of fire are not in California.

I'm sure the California fires will affect the wood supply and being the USA the market MUST respodg by jacking up lumber prices 50% and the tariff on Canadian lumber 100% to "help consumers".
