Canada's new ambassador to the US, Mark Wiseman, has written a scathing article on Canada's economy and its state of affairs.
He is also a critic of the supply management.
"This isn't a decline. We are in a free fall.
We are breeding large companies indifferent towards innovation.
Any government that’s financially beholden to the interests of legacy actors will be incapable of embracing the large-scale reform we need to encourage competition and drive meaningful consumer choice and productivity growth."
Spot on.
He is the strongest pick Mark Carney could have possibly have picked for the role and probably closer to Trump on these policies than even the Liberals.
Interesting dynamics.

I actually like supply management, mainly because the US system produces crap, and way too much crap, until it doesn't and people can't afford eggs.
At least our milk isn't full of growth hormones and we have lots of eggs.
But he is a good choice. Mango Mussolini will hate him.

Clearly supply management is on the chopping block. In January, assuming a majority, large scale rapid change will happen. Civil unrest is guaranteed.
Rough waters ahead.

I think the US knows supply management is a no go, which is why the internet services taxes are still on the books.

It's not just the 'supply management' it's the failure to adopt all US standards. Europe was nailed with the 'chicken tax' in 1965 as they wouldn't allow the way US chicken was processed. They still won't and to this day have a 25% tariff.
US beef is so red on the shelf it doesn't even look real
Washington state chicken is shit compared to BC, sure it's cheaper but full of hormones, antibiotics and much higher fat and even a large amount of tumours.
God knows what's in the milk and their mainstream cheese is as shitty as their mainstream beers.
Let them bring in a little more, but force them to label it clearly as US so we can boycott it. (won't be hard - 946 ml containers rather than litres)
MOF just make anything they sell here be in round metric container sizes. 350 ml not 355, even 500ml, 750 ml, 1,2,3,4 litre etc.

Look for a documentary called 'Outfoxed'. Journalists were doing an expose on that, and what they found was sickening.
