The death toll from the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 32 dead and 700 injured

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said these figures do not include the hard-hit state of La Guaira, where search-and-rescue operations are still underway. Officials warn the number of victims is likely to increase.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has warned that the disaster could become far more severe. Its automated PAGER assessment indicated a worst-case scenario involving tens of thousands of casualties if the most severe projections prove accurate.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has offered American assistance, saying the United States stands ready to provide emergency aid and support rescue efforts.
