BC Election Special

Post by Dr Strangelove »

Great breakdown. TLDR cons have no platform except to cut everything. Greens are competent but have not gather sufficient critical mass to be a viable opposition yet. The Greens really need to make inroads in the interior before they are seen as anything but a fad.

The Cons are playing the Con game.
No platform other that the other guy is bad, their platform is bad and nothing bur misinformation in their ads.
Eby increased the carbon tax, it's already 30c and he's gonna double it.
Eby makes criminal law, the BC Cons can prevent the constitutional right to bail
Eby's drug laws aren't stopping the people who don't use safe supply from overdosing
Eby's in bed with Trudeau

meanwhile 6 days before the election we won't even cost out the promises we made, just trust us. Ignore all the weirdo candidares./
Desperation.

I remember a time where the adults in the room were typically conservative bent but open at least hearing out new ideas. Now the adults are all the progressives and the radicals are the conservatives dog whistling to the lowest common denominator. Constantly threatening to flip the table over if they can't have everything their way and spouting the most inane tin-foil hat conspiracy theories. The chem-trail anti-vaxxer crowd have taken over and the thin veneer facade of civility the cons once had is replaced with populism and cheap three word slogans.

The worst of it is that they are dragging the rest of the political discourse with them. Like the drunken buffon that stuffs his shirt into the table cloth and gets up to bring the whole table down with him. The sad part is we have a critical mass of incels that are keeping this zombie party alive and rather than taking a serious look at how they got to where they are need to scapegoat anyone who doesn't look and think like them to feel vindicated. It's cheap and short sighted and it sums up what conservatism is now. Peer pressure from dead people.

Nominate the most despicable candidate and hope you'll win. Good strategy.

I wish you guys luck tonight!

I hope your next government is better than Albertas. But it likely will blow dead goats.

46 NDP
45 CON
2 GRN
and the recounts begin. Next week before we know for sure with all the recounts.

One thing we know. Probably less than 4 years until the next election. Looks likely the Greens will hold the balance of power.
As most commentators noted, the Conservative Band Name seems to sell well.
Sonia Firstenauer should've stayed in her own riding, we'll miss her.
