Something has to change. They both need to compromise.

I for one wouldn't care if letter delivery went to once a week. But I still like delivery to my door, and it keeps people employed.

Neither need to do a dam thing. Canada needs to grow up as a nation and get out of the monopoly business. This isn't the 1960's

It still takes people to deliver to the boxes. LOL

This is the ultimate case of a union trying to get more for the union and screwing the members. Trying to force a company that is billions in debt and has not made a profit in 10 years to give more is the stupidest thing I can think of.
The most the union can hope for it's members is that less than 50% lose their jobs now.
The public cannot care less about the postal workers and even the post office nowadays.

Blaming the union for the state of the industry is asinine at best. The mandate of Canada post needs to be scrapped entirely. Only then can there be a future.

I would prefer CP to deliver my packages, but almost never am I given an option who that will be. I have other preferences too.

Canada Post is the only corporation who can deliver letter mail in Canada. It's the law. So if they are required to, then why shouldn't the employees make a decent living? That's the job of a union.

Sure, we could change the law so private carriers could deliver mail and you could choose, but look how well that turned out for the Royal Mail. And really, letting Amazon deliver the mail wouldn't improve carriers lives any. Amazon drivers would love to be CP employees.

The money's in parcel delivery not letters. Put letters up to a toonie, right now all at once. Stop the nickle and diming nonsense.
And the feds have the right to decide what the Post Office does. Phasing out door to door letter and junk mail delivery is a start. Community mail boxes will take years to set up and are no big deal most of the country has those or must go to the Post Office like we do here.
Carriers can deliver parcels to the door Mon-Sat and staff can reduce by attrition while the change happens.
In the meantime SACK THE BLOAT OF MANAGERS FFS! Bring in a few people from Fedex, UPS, Amazon to show how to convert. Get rid of the oaf that's managed for 30 years and has no clue it's 2025. Week per year buyout, or back to driving a delivery van on Saturdays.
And order them back to work right f*cking now.

Gutting management is a requirement at this point.
