The leak came as Prime Minister Mark Carney considers whether to purchase the Gripen or F-35.

U.S. could hold a 'red card' over Canada's Gripen fighter jet option

Easy answer, don't buy US products. Hoekstra is the best salesman Sweden could ever have.

Fuck Hokstra.

Fact is the F-25 has to be preppped electronically from a base in Georgia.

No prep, no launch. Would they prep an F-35 for a sortie into US territory?

Only the F-35i doesn't need US approval for flight. The position of every fighter is known at all times. Can F-35s fight each other? And is there a remote kill?

Background on AWACS: These specialized planes are the backbone of modern air power, allowing militaries to track incoming aircraft beyond the limitations of ground-based radar (0:18-0:43).
The Shift Away from Boeing: For decades, Boeing dominated this sector and was positioned to supply NATO’s next-generation AWACS with their E7A Wedgetail. However, geopolitical tensions—particularly rhetoric and trade policies associated with Donald Trump—led NATO allies to rethink their reliance on the US as a provider (0:46-1:17).
The Rise of the Global Eye: In place of the American-made platform, NATO is moving toward the Global Eye, a system developed by the Swedish company Saab using the Bombardier Global aircraft. This represents a significant investment in European and Canadian defense industries (1:30-2:30).
Financial Impact: The decision is estimated to cost the US billions of dollars. With each unit priced at over $600 million, the loss extends beyond just the initial purchase price to include sustainment and training costs (2:31-3:08).
The video concludes that this transition signals a broader trend of European and Canadian defense contractors moving to fill voids left by a shifting US foreign policy, indicating that more such contract losses may be on the horizon (3:15-3:48).

Billions in long term contracts and a TOP level intel platform is now made in Canada.
