BREAKING: Russia has deployed a submarine and several Navy vessels into the Atlantic to prevent the United States from seizing its oil tanker

The vessel, previously known as Bella 1, has recently been renamed Marinera.

The US has been pursuing the Russian tanker for several weeks — after it attempted to bypass the partial maritime blockade of Venezuela. This was reported by The New York Times.

According to MarineTraffic data, Marinera is heading northeast across the Atlantic between Iceland and the United Kingdom. The vessel may either proceed into the Baltic Sea or bypass Scandinavia and head toward Murmansk — Russia’s ice-free Arctic port

On December 21, the US Coast Guard stopped the tanker in the Caribbean Sea. However, the crew of Bella 1 refused to allow an inspection, exited into the Atlantic — and the US began its pursuit.
