Coherent strategy. The reserves were NEVER assigned a mandate to remedy their needs as they were seen as the glue holding the CAF together. Ergo standards were optional and so were readiness requirements. You get attached to a reg force unit THEN you get dibs on benefits and even then you are last in the chow line.

Carney strategy for defence industry pledges 125,000 jobs, sweeping policy changes
- Creating 125,000 new jobs
- Expanding domestic manufacturing of weapons, ammunition, and advanced systems
- Reducing dependence on foreign suppliers
- Integrating Canada more deeply into NATO and EU defence supply chains
- Accelerating procurement and cutting red tape

Canada will scale up production of:
- artillery shells
- drones
- air‑defence components
- armoured‑vehicle parts
- naval systems

Defence Industrial Accelerator
This is a federal program to:
- fast‑track procurement
- fund innovation
- support Canadian defence startups
- help companies scale to NATO‑level production

The government will guarantee multi‑year orders so companies can invest in new factories and hire workers.

A national training initiative will support:
- skilled trades
- engineering
- advanced manufacturing
- cybersecurity
This is where the 125,000 jobs figure comes from

TLDR in much like a video game calibration test shows the limits of the rigs abilities the CAF means test is biased towards a US centric supply chain and NATO standard. That needs to be ripped up and reset with the focus on the new reality that the US is going to be AT BEST neutral to belligerent. EVERYTHING must be under the microscope from how we communicate to how we sustain a critical mass of troops on the front line and made compliant with the new SAFE standard used by the EU.

The conservative critic fails to even address the huge rupture in the geopolitical landscape and is impossible to take seriously when basic facts aren't even addressed. It points to a larger issue within the conservative party of either ideological paralysis or outright collaborationist movement within their party. Zombies have more lucid thoughts.

• Build more military equipment in Canada
• Increase Canadian firms’ share of defence contracts to 70%
• Add 125,000 defence‑sector jobs over the next decade
• Reduce reliance on U.S. suppliers
• Strengthen “sovereign capabilities” in key military technologies
Munitions & Ammunition Production
- Artillery shells (especially 155mm NATO-standard rounds)
- Small‑arms ammunition
- Precision‑guided munitions
- Explosives and propellants
Drones & Autonomous Systems
- Surveillance drones
- Maritime drones
- Loitering munitions (“kamikaze drones”)
- Counter‑drone systems
Naval Shipbuilding & Maritime Systems
- Funding for Canadian shipyards
- Upgrades to shipbuilding infrastructure
- Support for ongoing projects like:
- Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program
- Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS)
- Future naval auxiliary vessels
Cyber, Space, and Advanced Technologies
- Cyber defence tools
- Satellite systems
- Secure communications
- AI‑enabled defence technologies
- Electronic warfare systems
Industrial capacity building
- Expanding factories
- Workforce training
- Supply‑chain modernization
Procurement reform
- Faster contracting
- More predictable long‑term orders
- A target of 70% Canadian content in defence procurement
Support for SMEs
- Grants and contracts for smaller Canadian defence firms
- Programs to help them scale into NATO supply chains

Increased Defense Spending: Canada aims to boost defense spending to 2% of its gross domestic product, a NATO goal.
Prioritizing Canadian Manufacturing: The strategy emphasizes "made in Canada" manufacturing and supply chains to reduce dependency on US suppliers.
Staggering Investments : Over the next decade, Canada plans to invest $180 billion in defense procurement, $290 billion in infrastructure, and create over $125 billion in economic benefits.
Job Creation Goals: The strategy aims to create 125,000 high-paying careers in the defense sector, a significant increase from the current 80,000 employees.
Reserve Force Expansion: The Department of National Defence plans to expand the reserve force to 400,000 members

The recruiting 375,000 reserve personnel and 125,000 skilled workers simultaneously will be a huge challenge. Also, the basic flaw in the "buy Canadian" premise: the Canadian military desperately needs modern weapon systems, few of which are made in Canada.

They are running away with their hair on fire on renewable tech and the world is embracing it.

This is the way.
