US general left classified maps on a train and got a concussion after a night of heavy drinking in Kyiv

A Pentagon investigation exposed serious misconduct by Major General Antonio Aguto Jr. during his 2024 trip to Europe and Ukraine.

According to the report, he was carrying classified maps and left them on a train while traveling from Kyiv to Poland. The documents were missing for more than 24 hours and had to be recovered through diplomatic channels — eventually, a Ukrainian railway worker returned them to U.S. officials. Aguto had also been transporting the materials in violation of protocol — in a regular tube.

In a separate incident in Kyiv, after a six-hour dinner involving alcohol, he suffered a concussion after falling in his hotel room.

The next day, he reportedly fell twice more and appeared intoxicated even during meetings, including with Ukrainian military officials. He was later hospitalized and then sent back to Germany for treatment.
