Elections BC confirms recounts in two ridings, official result will take another week

TLDR NDP/Green Minority unless something drastic. 2017 redux. We dodged a bullet because Eby is still being given the benefit of the doubt but he is no John Horgan. He is a policy nerd and I am fine with that. Next election is NB and I see the Liberals outing the cons there at long last and to the chagrin of the Irving family. After that Alberta has a leadership review that may knockout Smith because she is having problems herding cats that are islamophobic and homophobic that are at odds with Sikh separatists.

Eby dodged a bullet by the skin of his teeth even after making major fumbles in drug policy and housing. I wouldn't hold my breath on JT doing the same.

As it should be. Minority positions as we have seen can be king makers.

Meet the Extreme, Far-Right BC Conservative Candidates Who Are Now Legislators Following BC’s Wild Election
Brent Chapman, the new BC Conservative MLA in Surrey South, has been one of the most controversial and extreme candidates to emerge during the recent election campaign.

Chapman, a character actor best known for minor roles in films like Freddy Versus Jason and the The Lizzie McGuire Movie, was repeatedly hammered for past comments accusing Muslims of inbreeding, comparing public health policies to the Nazi Holocaust and making statements questioning whether mass shootings in Sandy Hook and Quebec City really happened.

Chapman, who also faced scrutiny for posting anti-refugee content and content instructing critics of Donald Trump on how to “kill themselves,” also appeared on a podcast where the host claimed residential schools are a “massive fraud” and also referenced conspiracy theories revolving around the United Nations.

In that interview a month before the election, Chapman estimated “there are probably 45, maybe 50, ‘Freedom People’ that are running for this party” and criticized the media for portraying them as “wack jobs.”

Chapman went into hiding in the final days of the election campaign. When a Global News TV crew tried to interview him, Chapman hid in a small room while his campaign staff accused journalists of trespassing.

I'm thinking if they hadn't gone so far right, the "old" BC Liberals would've pulled off a win.

Rustad's best move would be to keep herd on the loonies, sort of like Harper did. Let them pass crime bills every day and find out through the Courts that Provinces don't make criminal law.
Let them figure out it's better to STFU and hope Poilievre wins and axes the tax or Ottawa gets it instead of BC

Fly in the ointment is that Rumstead IS a looney and the lunatics have taken the party over. This is their high water mark there is no where to go but down because they will need to cannibalize their own rank and file to satisfy the lunatic fringe that has control. They can't moderate the message because the message is already radical so they will fail at the one job they need to be to have a shot at government. They need to demonstrate they are the LOYAL opposition not sock puppets to tin foil hat wearing maga base. They need to be able to not only point out the flaws of the sitting government but also show they have a platform that can remedy. Otherwise they are nothing but bomb throwers that can only react not act.

Eby just need to run the day-to-day like he has been doing and not rock the boat. He can play to the tune of the greens as it has been done before and the NDP have come off better for it as it tends to focus their bills. Come next election, barring any drama, Eby will have the momentum to win a majority.

B.C. election results: NDP pulls ahead in key riding that could help party clinch majority

Would prefer a green minority but I can live with NDP majority over the alternative.
