Global Threat Perception: For the first time, a majority of countries surveyed (65 out of 84) identified the United States as the biggest danger to the world, placing it ahead of Russia and China (1:25-1:48).
US Perception Collapse: The US net global perception score has plummeted to -6%, down from +22% just two years ago—a 38-point drop described as one of the steepest reversals for a major power ever recorded (4:59-5:14).

USA! USA! #1 Bitches!! USA! USA! The irony? The very people that tout USA being top on anything are the very people who will not even register that this is a problem, let alone have a grasp of what this even means.

Key finding: New Zealanders now see China as more of a “friend” than the US
For the first time in a decade, more New Zealanders view China as a friend (43%) than the United States (39%). This marks a dramatic reversal from previous years, when the US consistently ranked far higher.

The shift is part of a broader pattern:

Warmth toward China increased from 38% → 43%

Warmth toward the US collapsed from 61% → 39%

Japan remains New Zealand’s closest friend in Asia, unchanged since 2017

Trust in Japan, India, Indonesia, China, and Australia all increased

Trust in the US continues to fall

RNZ notes that this polling coincided with controversial US actions, including the attack on Venezuela, talk of seizing Greenland, and rhetoric about Canada becoming the 51st state, which likely contributed to the decline.

The US is increasingly seen as a threat
A separate analysis from The Spinoff shows the US is now viewed as a greater threat than China:

35% of New Zealanders now see the US as a threat (up from 10% in 2022)

Only 23% see China as a threat (down from 37% in 2022)

This is one of the most dramatic opinion swings in the survey’s history.

Catastrophic Vector Shift: The detection of screwworm in a family dog in New Mexico (500 miles from the initial quarantine zone) and a goat in Texas Hill Country indicates the parasite is moving via unmonitored pathways, such as companion animals and wildlife (1:48 - 4:45, 5:17 - 7:06).
The Wildlife Reservoir: The video argues that the parasite has likely established itself in the wild, particularly among the millions of feral hogs in Texas, making traditional 20km quarantine zones ineffective (7:07 - 9:47).
Bureaucratic Gridlock: A "bureaucratic civil war" between the USDA and the EPA is reportedly stalling the deployment of proven chemical suppression methods (SWATS). The narrator claims the government is prioritizing environmental regulations over immediate food security (9:48 - 12:35).
Government Foresight: The host contends that federal agencies had a three-year warning, dating back to the collapse of the Darien Gap barrier, yet failed to adequately prepare for the arrival of the pest in the United States (13:08 - 15:55).
Conclusion: The video concludes that the current federal strategy is mathematically and geographically obsolete, and warns that without a hard freeze or more aggressive action, the screwworm could become a permanent fixture in the region (15:56 - 16:38).
