Alberta is a one trick pony because of decades of mismanagement under Ralph Klein. She is only dancing to the tune that brought her to power, the oil and gas industry that has bought the Alberta government much like Irving bought New Brunswick. They have painted themselves into a corner and are looking for an out from Trump and he said NO.

For once i'm with Trump on this one.

Oil and Gas is Alberta's fifth largest economic sector. Agriculture is number first.

Just Smith can't talk about anything else, because she is just a sock puppet controlled by others. If she could talk about something else, people might start to take her seriously.

Her loyalty is to oil and gas industry, not to Alberta, Canada or the US. As such her interests align with Russia and a great deal of her supporters are suspect to be at least Russian sympathisers/collaborators. She wants to double oil and gas exports and see anything going in the other direction as a threat so she is all in with Trump and drill baby drill. She knows the US would have to retool their refineries if they were to cut out Alberta oil so she just needs to wait out Trump. She expects there will be tariffs but only for a short window for show and then resume on terms more favorable to the US and she is willing to pay that short term pain for long term gain even if it pisses off the rest of the country. The other provincial leaders are weak what are they going to do? They can't even get their act together over interprovincial tariffs let alone international ones. She is calling their bluff.

Now she's pushing for renewed coal mining in the Corwsnest. Albertans will get rich competing in a dwindling market against their neighbours on the other side of the mountain!
Who, on my last visit to friends that live there were still living under layers of coal dust from decades back.

Dinosaur Danielle has again stuck to her anti-progress anti-environment corn-servative policy by announcing a new $200 a year fee to register EVs in Alberta.
Putting up roadblocks and impediments to any action that might encourage or enhance anything Green seems to be the common motive of so-called Conservative politicians.

I agree that EVs should pay road taxes, nut that could be taxed at the recharge station.

And EVs are not heavier than an F350 or Ram 3500. Not by far.

So, last Friday, Smith dismissed the CEO and entire board of Alberta Health. Turns out, they were investigating grift in fees paid to private clinics to perform procedures for Alberta Health.
