Proof is in the pudding. Most who voted for Carney that never voted for Liberals in their lives will give him a pass IF the fruits of their efforts pay dividends with REAL policy change. That means a divorce between all things US and Canada (both in trade and military procurement and supply) and a reckoning with that while building upon new trade opportunities. Trump is going to be Trump, anyone thinking that leopard is going to change its spots is beyond recovery at this point. This means that the oil and gas industry that is captured by the billionaire class in the US is no longer a domestic industry Canada can rely upon when it is subservient to a hostile foreign interest and we need to either nationalize (see what happened to Egypt, Iran and Venezuela) OR go all in on renewable energy to bypass the monomploy oil and gas have over the energy sector. China has gone with Thorium and we should be looking at that as well as it is a far better option than hydrogen or LNG that we seem to be only attempting in a piecemeal fashion.

No matter what path Carney tracks oil and gas will be a dying industry as the world moves on. We can no longer put our faith and funds into it and not expect that we will only be punished for our loyalty to fossils.
