On the C-9 and C-6 machine gun there is a gas port regulator that the gunner can switch from normal and adverse dependant upon the wear and rate of fire required. Some gunners always kept it on adverse because the gun would be more reliable to function but the gun techs would warn against that because it would cause excess wear to the gun barrel and the frame itself turning an expensive piece of equipment into junk in rapid order. What Trump is doing with executive emergency orders is the same. Short term gain, long term pain. He may not be around for the pain but he could cause the rapid implosion of the country and a birth of a new nation. Assuming we survive the transition.
