Bill C2. Liberals again sneaking in clauses that go against our rights and freedoms.

Political Cooperation: The discussion begins with a surprising development in Canadian Parliament where the Liberals and Conservatives are working together on Bill C-15. This is seen as a move towards a more productive parliament, though Althia Raj questions whether this cooperation is genuinely good for democracy, as it might sideline smaller parties. Rob Russo suggests that the Conservative party's current posture is driven by polls and a need to address internal issues before a more vigorous opposition can be mounted.

Bill C-4 and Senate Scrutiny : The conversation shifts to Bill C-4, described as an "egregious bill" by Althia Raj. This bill, initially introduced by the Carney government, includes controversial provisions that exempt political parties from privacy rules, allowing them to self-regulate data handling. The Senate, now mostly composed of independent members, is actively scrutinizing this bill, acting as a "chamber of sober second thought", and is pushing back against its swift passage.

This is a pattern and must be watched closely. The senate is pushing back because it is independant for now. Harper was horrenus using omnibus laws and Carney, with the complicit cons, are pushing in back room deals laws that are an assault on rights and freedoms that make the convoy crowd outbursts look legitimate. A fine line needs to be walked and government always shoots for the stars to hit the moon but overreach no matter what political stripe is toxic and can trigger blowback.
